马达加斯加共和国（The Republic of Madagascar），简称马达加斯加。是位于印度洋西部的非洲岛国，隔莫桑比克海峡与非洲大陆相望。马达加斯加岛全岛由火山岩构成，作为非洲第一、世界第四大的岛屿，国土面积59.2万平方公里 （包括周围岛屿），人口约2800万（2022年），马达加斯加人占总人口的98%以上，由18个民族组成，共设6个省、23个大区。

16世纪末伊麦利那人在中部建立了伊麦利那王国。1794年伊麦利那王国发展为中央集权的封建国家，并于19世纪初统一全岛，建立马达加斯加王国。1896年沦为法国殖民地，1958年10月14日成为“法兰西共同体”内的自治共和国。1960年6月26日宣布独立，成立马尔加什共和国，亦称第一共和国。1975年12月21日，改国名为马达加斯加民主共和国，亦称第二共和国。1992年8月19日，马举行全民公投，通过“第三共和国宪法”，改国名为马达加斯加共和国。
